If you’ve ever looked for healthy thing to do while creating ripples of good, then you might be disappointed that you missed Multiplying Good Pittsburgh’s Walk4GOOD. Held Saturday, May 7th on the urban trails just outside the front doors of the world-famous Heinz Field, this annual 5k/1K fun walk is part of our partnership with the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community.

This year’s walk was our first great excuse since the beginning of the pandemic to get together LIVE to walk outdoors and get moving to support our local Students In Action teams grow their service-learning leadership projects. Despite the cold and rainy weather, over 1,800 participants took to the streets. Although some of the North Shore route had to be detoured due to flooding along the Allegheny River, our walkers preserved and raised over $4,500, just shy of half their goal.

Regardless, the course was still accessible for all strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, and more.  Walkers joined the festivities as pairs, with their pets, and as individuals. Other participants like our SIA groups formed teams to raise money for the Walk4GOOD, including the Pittsburgh region’s 2022 Most Outstanding SIA Team from Brownsville Area High School.

Multiplying Good and Highmark T-shirts were given away for $30 donations, and raffles for gift cards and other fun prizes were awarded for every $50 in donations made. We even crowned a winner for the silliest team name! Finalists included Team Do Gooders, Guardians of Good, and Multiplying Dave – Which one would you have chosen?

In case you’re having regrets about missing the Walk4GOOD, FOMO NO MO(re)!  You can still help our Multiplying Good Students In Action Pittsburgh virtually by donating now at https://bit.ly/Walk4Good2022. All net funds raised go directly to Students In Action Pittsburgh, and as of May 8th, all new teams who register with silly team names are eligible for a new prize drawing, too! We’re hoping to reach our $10,000 goal before the deadline of June 3oth! Step Up and donate now!
