We believe public service is a powerful pathway for people to discover their true potential. We believe that the best workplaces regularly recognize their employees contributions –in the office and in the community. For their 2018 Make a Difference Day service activations, our two Pittsburgh-based Champion organizations teamed up on the last Saturday in October to bring together people from around the region to volunteer and encourage building a culture of community service.

Employee volunteers, joined by Girl Scouts Brownie Troop 52911, could have been doing any number of things on a dreary weekend, but instead gave a few hours that mean the world to so many people from our community who are hungry, homeless, and too often, hopeless. The group packed hundreds of children’s toiletries and school supply bags for donation to local domestic violence and homeless shelters and to the Center for Hope, a community center in Ambridge, PA, that provides food, clothing, education and other services to families in need. Our Champions are truly Multiplying Good!

For more than 40 years, the Jefferson Awards has been multiplying good in Pittsburgh, helping people realize their true potential through service to others. We are proud to be engaged with our Media Partner the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and with our Pittsburgh-based Champion partners the USW and Highmark Health, to not only recognize and celebrate those who are doing service, and to help all of their honorees, employees and members gain greater confidence, discover greater empathy, and have greater impact on those around them!
