One in a Million Award recipient: Peggy Schlegel, Mail Carrier
Where she’s multiplying good: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
How she’s multiplying good: She is One in a Million. Peggy is my local mail carrier who's always cheerful and thinking about others. Often when we connect at my mailbox, we exchange stories about kindness and positivity. I recently learned that in the midst of this tough time while working daily in a high risk essential service job to make sure we all get our mail, Peggy donated her recent monetary gifts from customers to an online cause called Chadwick's Medical Fundraiser on Facebook. Chadwick (Chad) is a nurse who currently works as an RN for a few different health systems in Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding area. He had decided that he can be better utilized on the front lines of the fight against the Coronavirus by traveling to NYC to help nurses and patients alike in one of Americas biggest “hot beds” of the pandemic. Chad called on his friends, family, and community to help support the medical staff in NYC in the form off cash donations buy supplies. A few ideas for donations are: gently used medical scrubs, toiletries, cleaning products, snack items, or forms of entertainment (puzzles, cards, books, etc). I'm honored to celebrate Peggy for her support of Chad and our heroes in the medical field as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time. I am nominating Peggy today for her caring heart to be thinking of others even while her job puts her in harm’s way. Peggy can't wait to nominate others like Chad for this award!
